Rated 5 of 5 stars by swtstick - Went to Luciano's with a friend from Louisiana. BTW, he's a top chef there. He had a 5 hr. lay-over at Newark Airport on his way back from Denmark, so, I picked him up and went for dinner. It's conveniently close to the airport... about 10 mins.
Our greeting was warm and cordial, the food definitely 5 star. He ordered the veal and he was highly impressed. I have been to Luciano's a few times and have yet to be disappointed... Valet parking is also courteous. I have eaten at top restaurants in NJ, NY, Louisiana, Florida and throughout Europe and Israel! Luciano's gets 5 stars from me. Highly recommended! Local.Yahoo.com

Rated 5 of 6 stars by melloyello2 - This place is an absolute blast. The first thing I noticed was the large hall and the attention to detail, the place has wood floors and a great big bar. Three giant flat screen TV are set high for all to see and Games adorn the magnificent wood paneling that drape two walls, the designer of the place has the front of the building in large glass panels giving an open air to the place and in contrast an adjacent wall is all exposed brick, a very warm and inviting atmosphere.

The service was a tad slow but was made up by the wait staff and bartenders personalities. We went simple today having the "Shrimp in the Rough" giant peal and eat in a most fabulous and biting cocktail sauce, I decide to get the Friday special, which were to die for. TripAdvisor.com

The appetizers are all tasty, along with their burgers, which have phenomenal flavor! Their steaks are also out of this world, and their Sheppard’s Pie! The mint ice cream pie is something that you should experience! The barmaid, Maria, is amazing; she knows what she is doing and has the best personality! This place is a MUST try, and I recommend to everyone!

While waiting for my train, I was served a perfect martini, then a "house" appetizer of chunky beef, onions, garlic, potatoes and cilantro. It was delicious...and free! Definitely a nice treat, I can't wait to go back.

Pretty large restaurant which was unexpected. From the outside it looks much smaller. Good service, comfortable rustic decor, old school style. Excellent Clams casino and broiled seafood. Last year's poll had but 30 votes so I suppose this poll could be considered more representative with three times as many votes (a record 92), unless of course someone went around and voted on different computers.

There were some newcomers this year, with Brooklyn Pizza taking over the space at Adam's Pizza on Race Street, and a "write-in" vote of sorts of Subworks. Buona Pizza wasn't in the poll as I wasn't sure whether that's in Rahway or Clark, and another reader suggested Valentina's offers pizza. Any others that we may have left out? Thoughts, comments or opinions? Any more suggestions for future polls?

Great news: I'm very happy to report that the previous owner of the Back Porch is now running the club again! I know that a lot of people in town missed him and will be glad to see him back. We are, too!! The Back Porch is a great room with excellent acoustics and nice people. And soon the construction will be finished and the parking lot paved so it'll be much more convenient to go there. Stay tuned for more information.
